You will have a unique opportunity to be part of an extraordinary choral competition, have a concert or sing at the Masses in beautiful churches in Split and the surrounding area as well as take part in master classes, workshops and other events at the very beginning of Advent.

b) Compositions will be performed at the evening of the new compositions. We invite all choirs and their conductors to show interest for performing new compositions.
c) GMS invites all composers to recommend or think about the choir or a vocal group that will perform their composition. If they have no suggestions, the Organizer will try to find an appropriate choir to perform the composition. The composers have to be aware, as it was pointed out in the invitation for sending a new composition to the competition, that it is possible that in this case the composition may not be performed if there are no interested choirs.
d) The programme of the Evening of the new compositions will be planned in a way that every choir is going to perform chosen/given new composition as well as a shorter programme consisting of Croatian musical heritage (or choral tradition of the country they come from) no longer than 10 minutes.
e) Direction of GMS can allow smaller changes in duration due to the programme coherence.
f) Compositions are basically performed without music, but piano accompaniment is allowed if the original composition was written that way.
g) Professional jury will present the following awards to the best composers: Gold, Silver and Bronze medallion “Canticum novum”.
h) The choirs compete for the awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze medallion “Cathedral” given by the professional jury for the best performance of the new composition and the accompanying programme as well as for the special award of the audience for the best performance of the new composition and the accompanying programme.
i) Money rewards are 500,00 EUR to the best composer and 500,00 EUR to the best choir. Other awards don’t include money rewards. The organizer can present other awards and prizes (e.g. the best debut choir, the best young composer, the best lyrics, conductor, etc.). These awards are optional and depend on the judgement of the jury.
j) The jury for the choirs will consist of Croatian and international experts and the representative of the organizer.
k) Glazbena mladež Split/Music Youth Split as organizer doesn’t cover travelling and accommodation expenses, but offers help in finding an appropriate accommodation or in any other way needed.
